Laem Singh Beach
Laem Singh Beach on the west coast of Phuket is one of the most picturesque beaches on the island.
Nestled between Surin Beach to the north and Kamala Beach to the south, the beach is extremely popular all year round with locals, expats and holiday makers because of its stunning appearance, turquoise water and trendy vibe.
Access to the beach on foot is only possible from the main road, Srisoonthorn Road, which runs from Heroines’ Monument to Patong.
During the peak season months of November and April, visitors to Laem Singh are required to pay 20 baht to park a motorcycle and 40 baht for a car.
Once parked, beach goers must walk down one of two reasonably steep paths, surrounded by lush green vegetation before Laem Singh Beach reveals itself. The same paths get dark at night, so be advised to take a torch with you.
The beach itself is no more than 200m in length, consisting of fine white sand interrupted by large boulders, set against a backdrop of the cliffs and the jungle.
Because of its small size and popularity, Laem Singh Beach often feels crowded as people flock in numbers to soak up the sun, swim in the sea or simply hang out in one of the places to be seen.
Like many of the other beaches in Phuket, visitors to Laem Singh won’t go hungry.
Although it doesn’t boast the numbers in terms of options that its neighbours do due to its size, there are still plenty of options for a sit down meal at one of the restaurants or a simple snack from one of the vendors who patrol up and down the beach.
Laem Singh Beach is home to great snorkeling opportunities and it is also possible to hire jet-skis, kayaks and body boards.
Every Sunday during high season Laem Singh beach comes alive in the late afternoon as Soundwave Sunday gets underway at Laem Singh Lounge Bar as Thais.
Expats and tourists head down to the southern end of the beach to party into the night as the sun sets on another day in Phuket. |
